blackout poetry

now that you've seen our project for yourselves, which goes into detail about
james monroe whitfield, a distinguished black poet living in the 19th century,
it's your turn to interact with this history.

using poems by whitfield linked below, you can create black out poetry and make whitfield's words into your own. don't feel limited to the traditional blackout style poetry; incorporate art if you would like to, but also don't feel pressured to do so. also try your best to make it something about black history or racially concentrated current events. the most important thing, of course, and to be quite cliche, is to be creative and have fun. enjoy!

please turn in your blackout poetry pieces to your teacher with your name on it, and celia and i will look through them and display those that we think go best with our mural (with your permission, of course). thank you!
